Security Improvements Effective 1/14/2013

Improved Security @ the CEC

In light of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in New Hope, Connecticut, Gonzalez Methodist Church has implemented additional security measures here at the CEC.  These measures are as follows:

1.)    A keypad has been installed on one of the front entry doors (the other door will remain locked during CEC hours).  Anyone entering the building must have an access code.  Each family will have their own personal four-digit ID PIN #.  For families of children enrolled in the 1’s, 2’s, 3’s & VPK A class – your PIN # will remain the same.  Families with children enrolled in the VPK B & afterschool programs must submit a four-digit PIN # by Wednesday of this week.  This PIN # is to be given to anyone who has authorization to pick-up your child(ren).

2.)  An intercom system has been purchased by the CEC PTO & has been installed allowing communication between the office, front door and all classrooms.

3.)  An alarm pushbutton/intercom installed in the office provides the ability to simultaneously sound an alert and broadcast a message to all classrooms and the kitchen.

4.)  Deadbolts have been installed high up on classroom doors to allow teachers the ability to lock classrooms from the inside should a need arise.

The exterior keypad entrance will go into use next Monday, January 07, 2013.  Please be sure to communicate this change to anyone authorized to pick up your child(ren).  We ask for continued patience as these security measures are implemented.
